Better than Google Earth 3D?

A new technology that can convert aerial photographs into a 3D world similar to that of Google Earths renderings of some major cities has been showcased in Stockholm, Sweden.

But unlike Google’s laser-measured rendering, this technique took less than 8 days (including the photography) to automatically generate the 3D-model of Stockholm — which includes every building and details as high as individual trees!

Take a look at the java applet here (tick “Jag godkänner villkoren.” and then hit the button) to take a look for yourself.

Im not entirely sure its better, but as a prototype its pretty damn good at least and it gives the city a cool rather surreal bubbly dreamy effect dont you think…via
